78th Anniversary of Victory in Europe

On Sunday, 7th May, a small service was held at St Martin's Church, Bladon to mark the 78th anniversary of Victory in Europe on 8th May 1945. Resting place of Sir Winston Churchill, the occasion is marked annually by local veterans, Cadet Forces, and serving military personnel. Thames Valley Wing RAF Air Cadets were represented this year by personnel from 136 Chipping Norton Squadron, 150 (City of Oxford) Squadron, 1315 Kidlington Squadron, 2120 Witney Squadron, and 2267 Brize Norton Squadron. The commemoration was concluded with a 3-pass flyover by Lancaster PA474 of the RAF Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, a photo opportunity and short chat with AVM Malcolm Brecht CB CBE. “Success is not final, failure is not fatal; it is the courage to continue that counts.” – Winston Churchill
